Choose fresh green nuts or brown.

Storage tips

Store in the fridge and if green and young do not remove the shell. Will store up until Christmas.

Cooking tips

Prep:

Peel the shell and use whole, chopped, or ground into a flour.

Roasted: roasting any nut brings out the best flavour in them. Shell the nuts and then spread out on a baking tray. Roast at 150 C Gas mark 2 for around an hour depending on how dry they are until hard and browned. Younger new season nuts will take longer.

Raw: use in salads fresh. Chop and season with salt.

Waste reduction tips

Add salt to preserve the nuts and do not let them sweat in the fridge. Store in a paper bag that allows them to breathe.
